Annual festival timed to ring in the Chinese New Year - 2018 is the Year of the Dog!  The event will include dog competitions for prettiest dog and best costume, there will be karaoke and other live entertainment, vendor booths, and plenty of activities and treats for kids, including crafts, a bounce house, sno cones, cotton candy and more!  Presented by KenSal's Cuckoo Nest - Asian Fusion Cuisine

The PDGA Amateur Doubles World Championships comes to Mount Vernon, Texas from April 5th-8th, as players compete on courses at Selah Ranch and Trey Deuce Ranch.  Presented by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, and Sponsored by Innova Disc Golf and HouckDesign Disc Golf

The Tour de Cypress is a bike ride sponsored annually by the Mount Vernon Rotary Club with routes ranging from 10 miles to 100K, all starting and ending on the Square in our historic Plaza District.

This event centers around a barbecue cooking competition and craft beer tastings with live music throughout the day, vendor booths, and a street dance.  Sponsored by the Franklin County Cultural Preservation Society (aka Mount Vernon Dance Club).

This annual event began in 1974, and continues on this year with more than 125 booth vendors with arts, crafts, food and games for the kids, with a stew cook-off contest, auto show, 5K run/walk, and live entertainment throughout the day. Starting with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. until the last booth closes at 4 p.m. it is fun for the whole family.  Sponsored by the Mount Vernon Key Club.

The Mount Vernon Food & Wine Festival is an award-winning wine and culinary experience.  The festival begins the prior week with the "Harvest on Main" wine dinner for 125 select guests on Saturday, Oct 20th. Activities follow during Food & Wine Week in Mount Vernon, culminating with the primary event, "Market on Main" which is held on Saturday, Oct 27th from 11 AM to 5 PM. Visitors can sample top shelf Texas wines, shop with culinary, art and other specialty lifestyle vendors, and view a showcase of cooking demonstrations by acclaimed local chefs, all while enjoying some of the best live entertainment Northeast Texas has to offer.  Presented by the Mount Vernon Main Street Alliance.
